The new requirements for DUI School include the following:

  1. The length of the program is now 12 hours. By pre-existing requirements that no more than 4 hours of instruction can be presented in a single day, the course will be conducted over three days.

  2. The DUI School must present a curriculum that has been published, peer reviewed and is considered to be Evidence Based.

  3. The DUI School Instructor must be trained in the proper application of that curriculum by the developers of that program.

  4. To be licensed as an approved Instructor for a DUI School, the individual must be currently credentialed in the State of Nevada as a Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker, or a Certified/Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

  5. The course must be presented in a synchronous manner in that is a “Live” classroom that starts and ends on scheduled days and times. The students may participate by being physically present in the classroom with the Instructor or via the ZOOM Platform. All of the participants will be able to see and communicate with the Instructor and their fellow students during the session.

  6. The course must be completed within 21 days of attending the first session.

  7. These regulations are in addition to those previously existing in the Nevada Administrative Code 483.708 through 483.795 including the mandate for Notarization of the Final Exam prior to completion of the program.
